A "Must" for natural lovers:
The Washington Slagbai Nationalpark shows the untouched and characteristic nature of Bonaire. Here you can find agave,
aloe, cactuses, like the Melon di Seru, Tuna, Kadushi. Low trees like the DiviDivi (Watapana), being bowed by thw wind, will arose your interest.
Different trees like Waterkeli, Kalebasse, Flamboyant Kibrahacha and Acacia all present a part of the Bonaire picture.
The pink coloured Flamingo has the ideal environment for it's breeding. There are very few places in the world where these wonderful
birds can find an undisturbed place. The Pekelmeer is off limits for all visitors. But at some other places flamingos can be seen.
Another nice bird is a seldom parrot with a green body and yellow head. The birdlife on Bonaire is very impressive.
There are about 180 different species on the island, 50 of them breeding here.
Wild donkeys, goat herds and leguanas, all feel attracted to the exuberant plants in private gardens. Therefore always
close the gate so that the donkeys and goats cannot destroy your garden.
For leguanas gates or fences are no obstacle, they are excellent climbers. They rest on trees, roofs and street and relax in the sun.
